    Description:
    I purchased this beautiful piece in Maryland.
    The sculpture is a fantastic biomorphic piece in an apricot marble sitting on top of a plain black base in a formica-like material.
    While biomorphic pieces became popular in the 1930s (abstracts of Joan Miro and Jean Arp), this piece is dated 1978 and signed Gina.
    A similar piece with the same signature is traced to an artist by the name of Gina Schimmel sold by a dealer in Philadelphia.
    Measures 11.5” high and sits on a base that is 6” x 6”.
    Weighs 13.5 pounds.

    Seems to be fairly close to original condition with small things noted below:
    The piece attaches firmly to the base but swivels. I'm not sure if that is original or not.
    There are some marks on the piece that look like scratches but are smooth to the touch. It could be a mark inside the stone, especially as marble is quite hard.
    There are fissure lines in the area to the right of the chin. I've look under 10x magnification to determine if this was a repair or just a mark in the marble. While I don't think it is a repair as a line extends also farther right, I cannot guarantee it is not. Please look at the photos closely...I will highlight with a pointer the area.
