    Modern Carnival Glass
emerged in the late 1960s, when the Imperial Glass Company, along with the Fenton Art Glass Company, revived the genre by
    re-issuing
many of their own Carnival Era patterns, and
    reproducing
patterns using molds purchased from defunct glass makers. Many other glass makers, large and small, joined in the revival. The same process of spraying hot glass with proprietary solutions of metallic salts to produce iridescence was used on the new glassware. Modern glass however, due to its hardness, accepted the metallic salt solutions in a different manner, generally producing a "harsher" (some say gaudy) iridescence.

    Contemporary Condition
refers to the lack of production issues which plagued antique glassware. Modern glassware is relatively free of those production issues due to modernized machinery, advances in glass making chemistry, and quality control. Even so, because modern Art Glass is generally still hand shaped, hand-painted and/or hand-iridized, each piece is technically a one-of-a-kind, and you may still find a minor production issue from time to time.
